Newport Tangent Club (No 333) in Shropshire found a great way to meet up virtually during Lockdown 2, while enjoying an activity increasingly seen as having a multitude of health benefits - Chair Yoga!

Beverley Ashton, member of Newport Tangent said “I’ve been practising various forms of yoga for many years, and have found it really helps with my flexibility, strength and mental wellbeing. During the first Lockdown I really missed my usual group classes at the gym, and so was pleased to discover online yoga classes via Zoom with Shropshire based health professional and yoga teacher Sue Pugh.

I was also missing our monthly Tangent get-togethers, and particularly as we couldn't even meet up individually for a friendly coffee. So, I had the idea of arranging a “give it a try” online yoga session for my club. The Chair Yoga session made it really accessible, suited all levels of fitness and flexibility, and it was safe and fun. As each participant's video facility is switched off during the class, you can even do it in your onesie if you want!

I had really positive feedback from those who took part, so it’s something we’ll definitely consider doing again”.
