President’s Charity Ball for Crisis raises over £23,000
The much delayed and long-awaited Tangent President’s Charity ball to raise funds for Crisis took place on Saturday 29th January – it had been postponed twice because of COVID, the delay made the organisers even more determined to make it a very special event and the guests, from all over the country, even more determined to enjoy every moment.
The evening, attended by almost 200 guests, started with music from a Rat Pack Singer during a generous Champagne Reception. A representative from Crisis – Matt Green Director of Skylight Birmingham spoke about the work Crisis do throughout the year and how their services had changed during the pandemic as well as Crisis plans for the future. This certainly had an impact as guests were generous in all fund-raising activities.
A delicious 4 course dinner was interrupted by surprise singing waiters which added to the party atmosphere and the band filled the floor from the first moment to the last. A great time was had by all.
Tracey Pickin, President of the National Association of Tangent Clubs, has chosen Crisis as her nominated charity for 2021/22. She explained that Tangent is still a bit of secret despite being one of the largest womens' organisations in the country with over 500 Clubs and 10,000 members offering opportunities for women to enjoy social networking and friendships whilst supporting communities and raising money for good causes.
Tracey said ‘I am overjoyed with the total raised from the ball, people were so generous! I think it’s been a long time since many people have been to a ball and thanks to Stratford Manor Hotel and our sponsors ( Segro PLC, Prosperity Wealth, L&Q Estates and Bookers) we were able to give them a very special evening, that along with understanding the difference Crisis makes resulted in the event raising over £23000!’
