Tangling through Lockdown(s)

NEWS ITEM

It’s been a difficult few months for everyone and when you are used to meeting every few weeks with your lovely friends – lockdown after lockdown hasn’t been much fun. However – thanks to our fabulous Chairman, Lichfield Tanglers have been kept busy and in good spirits. Sharon decided that, if we couldn’t actually meet, she would make sure we would all stay in touch.

It began by setting weekly challenges – from covering our roots [that might have involved wearing pots, pans and even pants on our head], to taking pictures of nature on our daily walks. We have re-created album covers, carved pumpkins, baked and created collages. Yes, we have had our fair share of zoom meetings but we have also divided into groups of six to enjoy actually meeting in gardens, bringing our own picnics etc. and socially distanced walks.

Sharon has also encouraged us to continue to fundraise – whether that’s been collecting 20p pieces in smartie tubes, our race night or taking our turn delivering the Round Table Christmas leaflets ‘advertising’ Santa’s upcoming visits. It may not be much -but we are still trying to put back into our local Charities as best we can.

It’s been a year like no other [one we would prefer not to have repeated] but the friendship has most certainly continued …thank you, Sharon from all your Tanglers, you are AMAZING!
