New Tangent Clubs President
ROUND TABLE FAMILY
The National Association of Tangent Clubs named Tracey Pickin OBE as its new President in their first online AGM.
Tangent is part of the Round Table Family and is one of the largest women's organisations in the UK and has around 500 Clubs and almost 10,000 members.
On Saturday 17th April 2021, Tangent Clubs formally introduced its new National President. This year was different to the past 50 years of the Associations history as it was their 1st online AGM due to the Covid 19 regulations in place. Club members attended the event along with representatives from Ladies Circle GB&I, Tangent Clubs International, Agora Clubs International and other Round Table family Organisations. Tracey announced her National Charity for 2021/22 as Crisis, the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. They are committed to ending homelessness. Every day they see the devastating impact homelessness has on people's lives and work side by side with thousands of people to help them rebuild their lives. Homelessness is not limited to rough sleepers, it can happen to families and young people through illness, the loss of a job or the breakdown of a relationship.
Tracey said, "As a women's organisation, I would be keen for us to help Crisis address the fact that 42 percent of the officially counted homeless are women. That figure includes those who are rough sleeping, people living in sheds, garages and other unconventional buildings, sofa surfing, hostels and unsuitable temporary accommodation. Imagine what that is like.
I also want to celebrate our 50 years of continued friendship, our achievements, and all the good times we have shared whilst protecting the important traditions. Still, I'm also keen that we think about the Association's future and make the changes necessary to ensure that we are attractive and relevant to future generations.
The website is our new shop window and will hopefully raise the Association's profile and update our image."
